HAMILTON, Last Nigtt* • The Waikato Eugby representatives jMrrowly defeated tlie .touring Hawke's SBay team to-day by 17 points to 15 in ja disappointing game. The conditions jirere ideal for fast, open Eugby, with |he ground hard, the baH dry, and little wxad, bu.t both teams kept the ball tight piactically throughout, There was little between the teams, Hawke's Bay being Without S. Eeid, Jackson and Dalton, Ihe All Black forwards, and Clothier, the half, while Waikato were without Aitken, Best and Taylor. The Hawke's Bay forwards were heavier and taller than Waikato and |ad an advantage in the line-outs, exlept when the ball was thrown by the Waikato wingers to Wynyard, but Cathooked well and when the pack •ettled down the. home side had an jdvantage here, Wynyard and A.
