James Joyce, aged 54, naval pensioner, was charged with insulting behaviour in that he took off his wooden leg.and lay at the base of the Oenotaph. He denied that he insulted tha Cenotaph and declared that he had been refnsed a hearing by the Admiralty and had accordingly made a demonstration.' An otncial of the Ministry of Pensions admitted that Joyce had a grievance, which tho Ministry promised should be investigated. Joyce was discharged.
