MR F. J. SHANLY

The death has occurred of Mr. J. F. Shanly, of Wellington and late of Wanganui. Born in Exeter, in Eugland, 71 years ago, Mr. Shanly came to this country at an early age. After spending a number of years in Hawke's Bay he went to Wanganui and started in business as a picture-framer and photographer. He was connected with various institutions in Wanganui, at various tiines belonging to St. Mary's Catholic Choir and was also a meinber of the Wellington Male Choir and Orchestral Society. He was one of the foundation members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Holy Name Society and Hibernian Society. Some four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Shanly left Wanganui to reside in Lower Hutt. Mr. Shanly is survived by his wife. There is a brother who resides at Wel-. lington, and two sisters. Sister Mary Catherine, of the Sisters of St. Joseph (Pleasant Point), and Sister Mary Pia, of the Sisters of Compassion (Wanganui).
