Petty Disputes Between Arabs & Africans 0RDER HAS BEEN RESTORED
KUGBY, Aug. 30. The Colonial Office has received a felegram from the Governor of Kenya stating that recent riots at Mombasa were confined to faction fighting arising out of petty disputes between the Washihiri Arabs and Jaluo Africans and a few odd members of other up-country tribes joining in. The Coast and other Arabs were not involved. Nothing was directed against the Government, Europeans or Indians; the di'sturbances were confined' to Ihe natives of the location, the remainder of the town being unaffected. Complete order was restored by Saturday night there. A police detachment is still camping at the location, and constant lorry patrols are • being maintained. The casualties were 14 Washihiri and one Jaluo dead. About 60 were sirrested, a large number of whom have already been convicted. The situation is almost normaL
