BENEFIT TOURNAMENT
Great Wrestling and Boxing Programme A great programme of wrestling and boxing has been urranged by the Hast ings and District Gymnastic Club foi to-morrow night, when the special benefit tournament to raise funds to sqnd three Hastings boxers to the New Zealand amateur boxing championships at Greymouth will b= held. The club has arranged for the appearvauce of six of the Hawke's Bay amateur boxing clianipions and five of the Hawke 's Bay provincial amateur wrestling ckampions to take part in the programme .is something quite out of the usual and sets a new standard in ring att.rctions. The club has underfaken the control of the tournarrent ao the request of the Hawke's Bay Boxing Association, and is very anxious that sufficient funds should be available to send all three boys to the national meeting as all three are members'of the club. It is interesting to note that for the past three years Hawke's Bay has'provided one New Zealand champion, an achievement that all true sportsmen will admit is a remarkably fine one. . It is possible that this record may be extended to include this year, hence the earnest desire to soe that the province is well represented at Greymouth. To-morrow's programme cornmences at 8 o'cloclc and will include a big number of both wrestling and boxing contests. Tho tournament will be staged in tho elub's gymnasium (formerly the Favourito Hall) in Warron street.
