The !War Council at Nanking has appointed General Pai Chnng-hji commander-in-ehief of all forces Sn the field and General Chantse-chung commander-in-chiet of the Kiangsn, Chekiang and Anhni forces. General Pai Chung-hji was one of the leaders of the Kwangsi levolt who held aloof from Nanking nntil hostilities commeneed against Japan.
