HASTINGS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Lecture on "Maori Customs" This evening at 8 o'cloek, a lecture will be delivered by Mr V. F. Fisber under the auspices of the Hastinga Historlcal Society.- Mr Fislier, wlio is a noted ethnologist from ' the Auckland Memorial Museilm, will speak on "Maoris' Customs^" and his addresc will be' liborally illustrated with lan* tern slides. Throughout the year the society has been fortunate in obtaining ispeakers of recoguised standing, but it has madq a real acquxsition in being able to obtaiu the services of Mr Fisher for to-night's Lecture. Mr Fisher, who is a comparatively young man, has a very sound knowledge of old Maori history and is a knowledge based on thorough research and persofial contact with the raco itself. The lecture, which is being held in tlie Metbodist Hall, opposiie the Municipal Tlieatre^ is open to all interestbd Prior to tne meeting, a public presentation wil] be made of prizes won in the recent historical competitiou conducted by tho society. The prizewinners were the Bay View WOnien's Institute and the Putorino Women 's Institute. - -
