CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Unable to counter the brilliant thrusts by the home team's backs, Southland was beaten by Canterbury on Saturday afternpon by 19 points to geven. It was fast, open football on a dry ground, and there was no question of Canterbury 's superiority among the backs, who made all the oj»enings from which scorfes came.
