(To the Editor) Bir, — The Labour Party is growing a little anxious. gbout the solidarity of its following. Mr Savage's speech the other day threatening Labour with what will happen to it if it fails in its duty of returning the Socialists to power at the next election, is a proof that the leaders are aware of the failing off. Mr Savage and company are astute gentlemen and I think, will reason something after the following manner: — The present trend is away from Labour, but, if thp new major policy measures to be enacted during the coming session reach favourably throughout the country no election will be held until November. On the other hand if any unfavourable symptoma develop an election wjll be held imraediately in the hope that a victory may be seeured before the rot goea too far. Labour makes a virtue of its decision not to take advantage of the fouryears' term to which the law entitles it. As a matter of fact Labour fear* that four years would mean its extinction at the end of the period. When the general election does come a mandate for four years will be asked for and if it is successful at the polis the following four years will see the actual and absolute disappearance of individual liberty as it has been understood ra New Zealand up till now. The Socialisation of the land wjll be vigorously proceeded with, Mr Christie (who is only a transient entity) calls it "compulsory co-operation," e.g., galley slaves chained to an oar.
