MEXICAN MARRIAGE
Argument on Actor's Divorce Petition LEGALITY QUESTI0NED (Received 30, 8.45 a.m.) LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28. The hearing was continued to-day of the aetion in which George Brent, the fllm actor, is petitioning for the annnlment of his marriage with Jocelyn Howarth, the Australian actress, on the ground that it did. not comply 'with Mexican law when it took place at Tia Juana, Miss Howarth's attorney said that fiince there was no record of the marriage in the United States the marriage did not exist in the knowledge oi the United States' Courts. "Mr Brent," continued the attorney, "ahould go to Mexico if he wants the marriage annulled. He is trying to place the California Court in the position of telling Mexico who can he married there." Tho attorney alleged that Brent tricdi unsuccessfully to get a Mexican Judge to annul the marriage. George Brent 's attorneyiVin his final argument before the Court, said that his client thought Mexicnn marriages were legal, and was sincere in assuring Miss Howarth of this, lt is expected that a verdict will be returaed in a few .days.
