GOLD ROD UNHURT IN FALL
(Received 30,- 8.45 a.m.) ' SYDNEY, Aug. 29. The veterinary surgeon is satisfied that . Gold Rod will sUffer no ill-eifects from his fall. Although he was going at full speed when he fell, there was not even a mark on liiin. The connections of Gene Tout seem a littlo axore hopeful, but his prospects are very doUbtful. Sir Ross is also a doubtful starter in the Metropolitan Handicap, but the Melbourne horse, Tbe Chanter, will probably be a strong favourite. Impressive performers at Warwick Farm were Gaychou and Prittle Prattle, also Tucklar. Silver Standard just failed to satisfy aud did not please as much as Fireman in the dead-heat.
