Twenty rabbits arrived in Durbau, South Africa, recently. They came from Englaud, and it is hoped that they will establish a new industry in this country. They are Rex rabbits, quite dilferent from the pest rabbits of Australia and Britain. Their fur is valuable. and may be worn proudly even in the shape of opera coats. Unlike the coarse grey fur of the coininon rabbit, Rex has a superbly sof't f,oat grown in many colours ; colours that range I'rom pearl grey to ehinehilla, from pale biscuit to sable brown. Sonietimes they are wliite. Tliese 2J rabbits are owued by an enterprising South Afric-a ti faimer. Special permission had to he obtained from tlie Minister of Agriculture to bring them into the otui n try.
