BRITAIN WANTS MORE THAN VAGUE REGRETS
(Received 28, 2.0 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 28. The Daily Mail's diplomtaic correspondent says: A strong British Note of ptotest against the shooting of Sir Hughe KnatchbuU-Hugessen, which is being sent to Tokio to-day, will emphasise the British Governmfent's serious view of the incident. According to the Daily Telegraph the Note will demand more concrete satisfaction than vague regrets. The Daily Telegraph 's Tokio correspondent, says that Japan is apprehensive of the outcome of the Bhooting, and some are asking whether it might not lead to British . intervention on behalf of China, but beyond expressions of regret from the Japanese Foreign Office and the Admiralty, there is an absolute refusal to make any official statement. Not a single Japanese newspaper commented on the shooting, obviously acting on the Government 's instructions. 0
