(By Telegraph-
CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The New Zealand Trotting Cup, to be decided at Addington in November, has been made a race for horses that are assossed at 4min. 26sec. or faster for two miles. The stake is £2500, which is £500 more than that for last year's race and a £1000 increase on that for the 1935 event. The committee of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Clnb has incorpOrated a condition in the programme which gjves it the right to decJine the final acceptance of any horse and to refund any payments made. This condition had been adopted for the purpose of exeluding horses the committee may consider are past their best or are • otherwise unsuitable to compete for the big prize. Lap prizes also have been ineluded' in the stake, and a time restriction has been placed on the first four furlongs and one mile and a-quarter. A prize of £100 will be given to the horse first past the winning-post the first time round, provided that that part of the contest which is four furlongs is cov-;
ered in lmin. 6sec. or faster; another prize of £150 will be given for the first horse past the winningi-post the second time round, which distance, a. miJe and a-quarter, must be traversed' in 2min. 45secs. or faster. Should the track be slow, the sectional times w'iU be revised. The object of the lap prizes is to ensure that the race is run in fast time and to provide a thorough test of speed and stamina '
