LIFE-SAVING
STANDARD IN N.Z. INFLUENCE OF ACSTKALIAiSS "Thc presence or an Auslralian team at the New Zealand championships held at Lyall Bay beach added greatiy to the interest in the events, and, while the visitors were' superior in many ways to the New Zealand teams, it is felt that the time i/s not far distant when New Zealand life-saving will be equal to the high standard of the Australians," says the annual report of the Island Bay Surf and Lifesaving Club. "In this connection the New Zealand Surf Association is, at the present time, considering various suggested alterations to the New Zealand rules to bring them more in line with* those of Australia. It has also been suggested that alternate annual visits of teams between New Zealand and Australia be made, and, if this becomes an established fact it should prove a very great incentive to training." A New Zealand team is 1c visit Australia for competitive work next February.
