An automatic smelling apparatus that de tects and measures the strength of the alcoholic odour on a person's breath has just been invented by Dr. R. N. Harger, University of Indiana chemist, states the "Pppular Science Monthly." "Since the strength of the odour is said to give an indication of the amount of alcohol in the breatlier's system, the device, shown aboire, may be used by police in establishing proof of intoxicstion.
