Concern of Trades Union Congress
RUGBY, August 23. In the course of the report of the general councii of the TradeS Union Congress, which will be submitted to the 69th annual congress at Norwich liext month, reference is made to the subje.ct of trades councils and unofficial strikes. The report says that the general councii regrets that it is necessary to remind trade councils that, as the official representatives of trade union policy in their districts, they must not actively encourage unofficial strikes in those cases where the union or unions coilcerned liad refused to recognise them. • Trades councils, it is added, havo been informed that the authority of the executive committee of fche trade union over its branches and members must be recognised by trades councils, and that no steps whatever should be initiated or supported by any trades councii which would in any way tend to uudermine that authority.
