WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The president, Mrs R. H. Tod, presided over a full attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Otane Women' s Institute whick was keld in the Town Hall. Tho motto tor the month is: "To keep one's spirit always sweet, avoid all manner of petty anger and irritabiiity — an ideal, noble, as it is difficult."After routine business was transacted the sckedules for the spring flowor show on September 14 were distributed by the seeretary and Mrs Frank Sniith gave an interesting and instructivo demonstration on hairpin work. A humorous play-reading by Mesdames Bull, Voyce and MacDougall was muck enjoyed. Winners oi th© competitions wero: Gems, Mrs lloach 1, Mrs McDougali 2, Mrs Tierney 3. Elowers : Mrs A. G. Clark 1, Mrs R. H. Tod 2 hlrs Arnott 3. A dafnty afternoon tea was servel hy the hostesses Mesdames Bond, Fairhall, Germain, Griffin and Miss K. Griffin and a pleasant social half ha lr was spent. The roll call, "Wkat I like to do on a wet day'} brought forth some helpful and interesting replies.
