An inbrease of over 12 per cent. in the yield of income tax last week, compared with the corresponding week in !3936 is the feature of the Exchequer ■returns, whieh show that the total ordi,'nary reveque amounts to £245,904,532, : compared with £236,225,519 at the' corresponding data last year. The week's total of ordinary revenue, £1,785,268, was £643,468 in excess of the total for the corresponding week last year. Tho total expenditure, less selfbalancing itenls, waa £322,311,833, compared with £300,340,012 at the corres-, ponding date in 1936.
