Wairoa and Hastings in The Lead Something in the nature of a "surprise'packet" was provided in the second, round of the Ross "Shield primary sehools representative Rugby footbail tournament at Nelson Park, Hastings, yesterday afternoon, when the Wairoa fifteen made its first appearance to' dompile a "ericket scoxe." The northerners revealed remarliable form, - their combination being outstanding, and they so coinpletely overwhelmed their opposition that a halt was called .before time, the score then being 57 to nil. Tlioligh the first round games were all evenly contested in the second ' round play yesterday afternoon, and the third round this morning, there was a marked difference in the scoring of the opposing teams. The indications point to the final being contest-. ed by Wairoa and Hastings, with the former-the favourites. The results of the seeond and third rounds are as follow: — SECOND ROUND. Wairoa defeated Dannevirke by 57 points to nil. Hastings defeated Central Hawke 's Bay by 26 points to nik THIRD ROUND. . Wairoa defeated Napier by 28 points to nil. Central Hawke's Bay defeated Dannevirke by 15 points to three. The tournament was continued this afternoon when Hastings inet Napier and Wairoa met Central Hawke's Bay. The final games will be played to-mor-row afternoon, when, at 1.45 o'clock, Napier play Dannevirke, and an hour iater Wairoa play Hastings. Up to the present the positions of the teams are as folloW: — Wairoa and Hastings, 2 -wins, no losses; Central •Hawko's Bay, 2 wins, 1 loss; Napier, 2 losses; Dannevirke, 3 losses.
