Found by tbe Main Higjhways Board idspeetor riding a bicycle at night near Poukawa witliout ligbts, Jack Harmer was fined 15/-, with costs 17/-. Perfiiitting tlie use of an unlicenced motor vehicle on the Whanawhana road, Wallace Shrimpton was ordered ' to pay 12/- court costs. It was explained that tbe vehicle was used exclusively for farm work and was very rai'ely on the roadB. "Tbe lorry was overlqaded and the hand brake was practically nseless," said tbe Main Highways Board inspector, Mr J. H, R. Semple, when Edgar Lay pieaded guilty to operating an overloaded heavy motor vehicle and further with operating a motor vehicle, tbe brakes of which were inefficient. He was fined £2, with 10/costs on eacli charge. A fine of £2, costs 12/-, was imposed upon T'boinas May, wlio pieaded guilty to driving a motor veliiclo along llailway road at a speed wliicli, having regard to all the circumstances might' have been dangerous to the public. The Main Higlnvays Board Inspector, Mr J. H. R. Semple said that tlie defendant drove across threo intersections at a speed of 50 niiles per hour. Hazel Bell Brice was convicted and ordered to pay 10/- court costs for driving a car witliout a driver's Iicence. Found drunk in Railway road last' night, Frank gtart was fined £1 10/-, costs 10/-, for a breach of a prohibition order. As the result of backing a lorry and causing clamage to a bicycle which was standing on tlie kerbingi in Russell street, Hugh Kirkwood,' carrier, was charged with driying a, motor vehicle without due care and * attention.
