Six Killed In San Diego Disaster NOSE-DIVE INTO SEA

SAH DIE«U, Aug. 23. A Navy flying-boat crashed in^ the Oay. Six aro dead, and two injured scriously. Three bodies have been rccovered. The 'plane was being brouglit down towards a landing when its twin motors spluttered and died. The maehine nosedived into 60 feet of water' with such force, wdtnesses said, that the bodies were thrown many feet awav. During the night small boats, aided by search iights from battleships aud cruisers, were used to search xor tlie wreckage. Divers were also brought to the sccno to wicld grappling hooks. It is bclieved tho bodies rcmaiuing in the wreckage are so wedged that it will be impossible to removo them until tbe maehine is towed to shallower water. The 'plane is part of a squadron which has been to Honolulu several times. This is the squadron ;s first serious accident.
