DON COSSACK CHOIR

A EEVELATION IN SINGING. This m,orning the box plans were opened for the appearance here under the direction of Messrs. J. & N. Tait, ! at the Municipal Theatre o'n Friday night next, of the renowned Don Cossaelc Ckoir, which ;created a profound sensation in Wellington, where their magnificcnt singing was enjoycd by record audieuces. The wonderful j enthusiasm which was displayed by the hugo audience which greeted the Don Cossaek's initial concert in the capital eity of New Zealand is without a precedent in the history of entertainments, the choir being cheered to the echo after its final contribution. Composed of over thirty singers, the Don Cossaelc Ghoir is noted for its extensive repertoire of impressive Russian classics, ranging from croon songs to devotional arias, and each singer has reached the highest pinnacle of art in song and expression. The conduetor, Nicolas Kostrulcofif, provides inspirational guidance, and he is 'said to obtain remarkable offects in tone colour from the singers. .Pathos and tragedy, together with a dash of comedy, will be intermingled in the repertoire which is to be presented by the Don Cossacks here, and vividly do they depict the varying transitions with their contr^sting tones and marvellous preeisions. Natioftal c.n.ces give eolourful and intriguing interest to several ' of the outstanding items, and in individual and concerted action the performers demonstrate the co-ordination that has brought about their triumphant progress in the course of a triumphant world-tour.
