More than thirty persons were killed and a great number injured on July 30 in a French railway smash, near Villeneuve St. Georges, about fifteen miles south of Paris. The accident was caused by the faulty setting of points. The continued use of wooden coaches on French railway s was again the cause of criticism after the accident, the wooden carriages being telescoped between steel cars.
