Simmonds Memorial Cup Play VICTORY TO TARADALE The annual seven-a-side hockey tour* nament for the Simmonds Memorial Cup was played on Nelson Park, JJapier on Saturday. The ten teams entered were divided ihto two sections, the winnfers of each seftion playing off in the final. As usual in sucli tournaments there were several surprises, poor skooting causing Kiwi A to malce a draw only witlx Waratakg B. whilb Taradale A staved off defeat by Hiwi B only by notching two goals in the last five niinutes of play. All of the games WOfe played at a good pace, and proved very exciting. Kiwi A Eeaded the A section with three wins and a draw, While Taradale A led in the B section with four wins. In the final Taradale A gave a good exhibition of fast play and clever stick work and beat Kiwi A- by two goals to nil. Messrs R. Best, Burns, C. Cross, V. McCutchediij Royce and Eex Vercoo acted as referees. The scorers for the various teams were as foilow: — Taradale A D. Hill and Matthew ; Kiwi A, Best, .
