GARY COOPER'S HOUSE RANSACKED

Burglars hroke into the palatial West Los Angeles home of Gary Cooper, the film star, and istole jewellery and other articles valued at £10,01)0. The burglary was committed while Mr. Cooper and his wife, formerly yeronica Balfe, were visiting friends. kTlie housekeeper was awakened by the aetor's dog and discovered that many of the rooms had been ransacked. The missing jewellery alone was worth upward of £5000, and costly dinner plate, linens and clothing were also taken. Two men and two women who were found wandering in an hilarious mood on the edge of the Cooper estate were taken to the police istation^ questioned, and released. None of -tlio members of the Cooper housoliold could identify them. Among the most yaluablo jewels stolen were a platinum bracelet, sct with diamonds and xuhies, valued at £1000; a platinum ring, set with an Sct. ruby, £1000; a clustcrsot diamond ring, £250; a red gold bracelet with an aquamarine, £400; a palr of diamond and ruby studded clips, £600; a diamond cigarette case, £350; a gem set, £80; and a pair of diamond ear-rings, £'200. Mrs. Cooper, who is about to becomo a mothcr, said that she also missed two bracelets sot with star diamonds which were invaluable to her for reasons of sentiment. She also lost a gold rosary. The burglars entered the house by cutting a screen in the bathroom on the lower floor abont midnight.
