SEVERE EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS IN MANILA

(Received 21, 11.S0 a.m.) MANILA, Aug. 20. Three earthttuake shocks, described as the most serious for years, rocked the city and surroixnding country and disrupted telephone and power sgrvices in some ge&tiong. Walls of buildings cracked, and wator mains burst. It is belied there are no casualties. The shocks occurred an hour after the arrival of a ship-load of refugeeg from Shanghai.
