Mr N, T, Lambourne, Directpr yf Education, of Wellington, whp arriyed in Hastings last eyeuing for ihe purpose pf investigating pgst-primary eduejitional facilities in this district, returned south this afternoon, Mr W. Rowan, formerly aecountant 011 the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Napier, left yesterday mprning to take over the managership of the Paeroa branch. His position is beifag filled by Mr C. B. Marshall, of Auckland. Mr Alexander Graham Snodgrass, of Te Akau, aged 74 years, whose death has occurred, was a promiuent farmer and played a leading part in the life of the district, Mr Snodgrass was a former Hawke's Bay football representative, , and he was a familiar figure in polo, hunting and racing "circles, He is survived hy his widow, five sons and, three daugliters. Dr. A. J. Stallwortliy, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Stallwortliy, of Auckland, and a nepliew of Mr H. R. French, of Hastings, has accepted a position qn the tutorial and research staff at Oxford University. After many soholastiq successea Dr. Stallworthy was awarded a medical travelling soholarship. Sinqe, his arrival in England he stntlied ior and obtained a Follow® ship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and wixs engaged for a year in clinical practfce at the Chelsea Hospital.
