■ » P ■ g Firm Values for Fat Sheep '• Values recorded-at the Feilding live stock sale yesterday were fully firm at ^ate rates. In the " fat sheep ■ section iwoolly wethers realised 44s 3d, while [woolly fat ewes made to 43s 9d. Shorn !fat ewes made to 21s 9d and shorn' jwcthers up to 32s. The store hoggfet imarket was particularly active and values marked an appreciation of ls a diead on late quotations. The tone of 'the beef market was quite good and tho dairy cattle section experienced a keen demand for good quality lots. The fat sheep pens contained an entry of app'roximately 1200 made Up of 250 •hoggets, 250 wethers and between 600 and 700 ewes. The hoggfets- were 'not an attractiv.e lot and were' mostly unfinished, while some would hardly pass muster as good stores. The oifering of wethers included one or two prime pens of w;oolly and shorn sheep which sold under keen eonipetition at rates in advance'of late quotations. Ewe mutton also reached a new price level with the fieeces influencing the bidding. Taken overall values all rouhd were deeidedly firmer with export operators and Wellington butehers playing an active part in the bidding. For the most part store values operated for the hoggets which were gener- ' ally a poor lot. On'o good line of 15 white-face hoggets carrying nice fieeces from Kawa Kawa road realised 32s Id whieh was the top price of the hogget sale.
