MISSIONARY COUNCIL
Conference to be Held at Hangchow in 1938 BISHOP BENNETT TO ATTEND An International Missionary Council consisting of 400 delegates from all parts of tbe Christian world, is to be held at Hangchow in October, 1938. Tbe last meeting was held in Jerusalem in 1928. Tbe council is restricted to 400 delegates, 300 of wliom are appointed by tbe various churches and 100 by the Universal Christian Council. Ciosely associated with the council in the preparations for the conference is tho World Alliance for Promoting Friendship between the Churches. New Zealand is sending two delegates, the liiglit llev. F. A. Benuett, lfisliop of Aotearoa, and the Rev, D. N. MacDiarniid. N ows that war has broken out between the Chinese and the Japauese, and has rcacbed both Shanghai and llaugchow, both of which- are ciosely associalcd wilh ihe missionary conI'crence, iL is difficult at lliis slage to detcrniine whether it will be possible to hold the conference at llangcliow.
