IS. 1 The Board of Trade index number of' iindustrial production for the United JKingdom in the second quarter of the year was 2.3 per cent. higher than for Jthe previous quarter and 9.1 per cent. jabove the June quarter, 1936, the index' |Uumbcrs ior the three periods, with the. jyear 1930 as the base, being 134.7, 131.7 land 123.5 respectively. Most of the increases were in respectj to electrical engineering, shipbuilding,! iron and steel, chemicals and textiles.' There was also a substantial rise in non-j ferrous metals. i
