WOODS BEATS SPELLMAN

•Press Association 1

(By Teleeraph—

MASTERTON, Last Night. "Jolting" Joe Woods lived up to his reputation to-night, when he defeated John Spellman in one of the most spcctacular and eolourful wrestling contests staged in Masterton for several seasons. Both men were keen to win by the shortest route. The six rounds were packed with thrills. It was great wrestling, devoid of showmanship. Spellman took a fall with an aoroplane spin and a dump in the third round, and Woods equalised in the fifth Tound with a fall from a rocking-chair splits. Wood secured a dceiding fall in the sixth with a bodypress.
