WHARF WORK RESUMED
Control of Wellington Labour USE 0^ BUREAU SYSTEM (By Telegraph— Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. . Work was resumed on the waterfront this morning following a stopwork meeting of the Waterside Workers' Union, when the previous resolution to refrain from offeting labour was rescinded. It is understood that the tinion agreed to give the eontrol of labour to the shipowners as requested. To-day work is being resumed undey the old conditions, and the shipowners have agreed to put the bureau system. of work into, operation tomorrow morning. The trouble arose regarding the terms of employment iinder the proposed bureau system yesterday when the available men declined ,to respond to calls for labour to work ships which arrived or were due . to arrive this morning. The attitude was dictated byx the deeision reaehed at the stop-work meeting last Veek not to accept engagement unless the bureau system of engaging and employing waterside labour was put into operation.
