Ih View of this, the Government has decided to place a similar beacon on Cap'O GampbelJ. When this beacon is in operation^ probably about ihe end of the year, all veasels iu localities whdre the bearings cross favourably will get a bearing on Baring Head and another on Gape Campbell, whidii will givfe them their approxi.mate position at once. As soon as the Baring •Head beacon has been properly tested, orders will be placed for equipment for Stephen 's Island, Mokohinau, and Cuvier Island."
