Provision of Gymnasium Facilities The inonthly meeting of the Napier Secondary Education Board was held last night, the chairman, Mr J. H. Edmundson, presiding over Miss A. E. J. Spencer, the Hon. W. E. Barnard, M.P., Dr Harold Berry, and Messrs H. E. Edgley, S. V. Ayling, D. B. McRae L. C. Eriend, W. H. Dawson, G. B. Meqzies, J. H. Absolum, G. H. Cooke and A. Hobson. The necessity for adequate gymnasia facilities at the Napier Boys' High ' Sohool was discussed and, as a result, a committee is to investigate the cost of providing a modern gymnasium at the school, in place of the makeshift one one at present in use. The discussion arose from the report o£ the Principal, Mr W. T. Foster, upon the recent New Education Fellowsliip Conference in Wellington, which stressed the necessity for better facilities for pliysical education, with expert teachers and properly equipped gymnasia. Mr Foster explained" that a portion of the disused hostel building was in use as a gymnasium, used in the main by the boarders. It contained a parallel bar, but was too low for the trapeze. Mr Barnard, M.P., suggested that the position be goue into with a view to obtainjng an cstimate of the cost of providing an adequate gymnasium. This was agreed to.. (
