WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. At the annual meeting of the Waipukurau A. and P. Association iu the Oddfellows' Hall this evening, Mr J. D. Ormond, jur., presided over an attendance of over iifty. Annual Report. The annual report stated, inter alia: — "The Show and Gymkhana: Tho fixture held at the Racecourse on 23rd January last was again an outstanding success except that the unfavourable weather conditions prevented mauy people from attending. The heavy gaie, both the day before and on the day of the show, made the duties of officials inost trying. "Finance: After providing for depreciation on yards, etc., amounting to £8 7/-, the net profit is £17 1/-, which in view of a 10/- for adults and 5/for junior membership snbseription, may be considered highly satisfactory. Had all accounts been paid th© net profit would have beeu £33 18/6. "Membership: The total membership at the end of the year was 337 adults and five juniors, an increase for 48 for tho year. There were no resiguations. During the year ending 1935, 101 new members were elected and during 1936 a further 31. This may be taken as conclusive evidence of the association 's growing popularity. "Thanks: To the judges, officials. and members of the committees, donors of cash and fleece wool, the association record their appreciation and thanks for the co-operation given. To the Press for valuable publicity and reports of meetings a word of thanks is also due. "Next Show: The exeeutive at the request of the Eastern District Councii of the Royal Agricultural Society, applied for Saturday the 22nd January, 1958, as the date for tho next fixture. This date has beeu approved and advcrtised in the Royal Society 's Gazette. For the next show, Mr W. Fleming has promisect a silver challenge cup to be allotted' to the horse section, and the Hatuma Women 's Institute a silver challenge cup for the Women 's Institutes' collective class, to be competed for in addition to Mr J. D. Ormond 's shield, but opeu only to institutes Avith a siuail membership.

Wilder, said ho wanted to rcfute a rumour that, sinee the show had been turned into a gymkhana tho money handed over froxu the old A. and iJ. shows had been wasted. The figures delinitely showed that, far from wastiug thc money, they had added to it. "lf we all pull together," ho added, "we will have as good a show as has evcr been staged in Hawke's Bay."
