SPILLANE CUP RUGBY

Next Tourney Allotted To Napier Napier has been chosen by the New Zealand Marist Brothers' Old Boys' Association as the venue for the annual fcjpillane Iiugby tournament, to be held next Easter. This decision was reached at a meeting of deiegates held at Wellington during the week-end. The tournament was originally set down to be held at Hamilton next year, and although Napier would not normally have held the tournament nntil Easter, 1942, the meeting held at Wellington decided, in view or the success of the 1935 tourney in Napier, that the 1937 coinpetition be held at Napier. « The Spillane Rugby tournament is attended by Marist teams from Wellington, Palmerston North, Hamilton, Gisborne, Wanganui and Auckland, the iarge number of competing teams in tho la^t few years necessitating the tournament being finaliscd in two sections. .Besides serving to bring the Marist teams of tho North Island togetlier in competition on the Rugby field, tli1! tournament will comeide with the annual conference of the Marist Association and will be responsible in at-tiaeiiiig-'bct.ween '300' and 400 visitors to Napier for .j.ho Easte-r holidays.
