MEEANEE SCHOOL BALL
Happy Time for Children The Meeanee School annual ball, held in tlie school, proved to be one of the best of the many successful functions carried out under the same auspices. ifrilled streamers in shades of gold-, orange, flame and grcen wero delightfully arranged, and the air of festivity completed by the sparkle of silver glitter on moons and stars. The fancy costumes were particuiarly pretty and thanks are due to the judges who awarded the prizes as follows: — . Best fancy costume. — Senior girls : Shirley Beckett (Mexican cowboy) ; senior boys: Leo Simonsen (rajah); Middle School girls : J oan Dooney (Italy) • Aliddle School boys : Ted Hill (lost luggage) ; juniors: Gloria Coker (rose) ; Bill Browuie (baker). Tiniest tot in fancy costume : Phyllis Wylie (gypsy). Special prizes were awarded to JVlaclgb Engert and Eileen Macdonald for their helpfulness in preparing the schoolroom. The organisers gratefully acknowledge the generosity of the friends who donated these prizes, and tender tlieir thanks to the M.C. "for the children's function, Mr Burgess, and to Miss Linda Burgess, who entertained with two dances. Until 10 p.m. the children presented items and dances and took part in various games, after which supper was served, and the chairman of the school committee, Mr L. Dooney, before handiing over the programme to tbe adults, presented, tlie, prizes and tlianked tliose responsiblo for the success of the evening.
