Clive Grange School Bait a Huge Success Dcspito the fact that there wero couater-attractions and an exodus of tootball eathusiaats to Wellington, the Haumoana Publio Hall was conlfortably filled last Friday night when the Clive Grange School ball wub held. Towards evening rain fell, but this in no way prevented tho children, clad in fancy eostumes, from beihg reqdy lo stai't promptly at eight o 'cloek to tho grand march rehdered by Iiedward's Urchestra. The hall itsolf was beautifully decoratcd, and the increased iioOf space and new stage and dressiug rooms all coutributed to tho uniiiteriupted swiug which charaeterised tho proceedinga from slart to finish. Children 's items were alternated with children 's dancea until 30.15 when the young people wero trcated to a" sit-dowu suppor while tho adults proceeded with the dancing. Mr Gookerill thankcd all the parents who so enthusiastically prepared tho costumes and who had assisted in the preparation of the supper and hall. There had been a .minimum of timo spent, in preparation Of danceB and itcms and ho wus very gratofui for the splcudid hcaring an;I Ihe spiriied euthusia'sm with which ihe itcms had boen leccivod. Mr Byford, the chairman of the School committee, desired to thank all Ihose who had bravod the elcments and had patfonised' Ifeo Function. Mrs Cockeriil played all accompaulments and many of the Uances for tke stnaller children.
