ANNUAL BALL HELD BY TWYFORD SETTLERS
A large and happy throiig gathered at the Twyford settlers' annual ball held recently at the Fernhill Hall, when a thoroughly enjoyable time was spent dancing to the strains df Les. Henry's orchestra. Extras were played * by Mr P. Flowers, who with Mr J. McNab, was a most tapable M.C. The Monte Cario waltz prize-win-ners were Mr Webber and litfcle Miss Zonia Martin. An exceilent supper was sefved by the ladies' couunittee,-. who, with their untinng' eii'orts were largely responsible ior the success of the evening. At the couclusion of the last waltz all the Uaueers joined hands and sang "Auid Lang Syne." Mesdames J. lt. Bone aud A. J. Burge acted as joinl secretaries — the foruier wearing a gown of wine self iigured satin tritnmed in beige anci the latter a pastel blue georgette frock tinished with belt and flowers of pink. Others present were: — Mrs Tait, black marocain inset with black lace and finished with diamante clasp. Mrs Sparksman, Iigured silk serge in shades of gieen, black and and beige. Mrs J. McNab, dusky pink graincrepe, the sleeve effect reversed witii dusky pink and gold lame and caught back 011 shoulder. Mrs 1'. Flowers,, sea green taffeta, the bodice cowl sleevc aud akirt triniined in plaid talfetas. Mrs L. Knuckcy, black taffeta finished with a diamante clasp at the ueck. Mrs L. Carrington, midnight blue cloque trimmed with white flowers. Mrs E. McLeod, black angelskin lace frock worn ovei rose shaded satin. Mrs A. Orbell, spring green fisured georgetto with llame shaded flowers at neckline. Mrs J. Tweedie, dusky wine shaded marocain. Mrs R. Sherwood, parma velvet ninon, the bodice finished with basque effect and celestial green spray. Mrs Ericlcsen, tunic frock in lemon and green shades worn over soft green skirt. ' Mrs Webber. heavy gold Jace worn .over black satin, having waterfall frills from back of corsage to hem. : Mrs McCutclieon, lemon georgette, tbe bodice inset in lemon shaded lace.. Mrs Wedd. scarlet blistered cloane, and a shoulder spray in the sanrn shade. Mrs Martin, shell pink mariette trimmed with self-coloured flowers. Mrs Berrigan, floral frock in bright shades of red and green, the bodicesoftly gathered.. Mrs iMi'lar. bright pink taffeta, with basque effect.
Mrs M. Holt, black ring velvet worn with hand-made. silk lace scarf. Mrs Grenside. navy and white floral marocain. Mrs Jowsey, blossom pink lace, the skirt inset with pink georgette. Mrs B. Bainbridge, buiguhdy lace frock worn witb a cherry shaded spray. Miss M. Brandon, cherry lace and georgetto, the skirt daintily frilled. Miss I. J. Burge. celestial gteen cloque with gold lame trimmings ancJ gold flowers at the neck. Miss I. Bone. huttercup^ silk muslin the bodice and skirt trimmed witb tiny frills. Miss M. McLeod, midnight blue panne yelvet, the wide shoulder straps shirred at the waistline Miss Billy Trotter, plaid taffeta in shades ot spring green, black and beige. Miss M. Campheli, off-white silk nel the skirt trimmed with waterfall frills Miss J. liichards, Coron&tion red georgette with softly gatl | ed bodice. Miss J. Tait, torget-nie-not blue satin beaute, hnishetl with a innk girdle. Miss F. Watson, "sky blue satin with insets of lace. Miss D. Feterson, floral georgette frock ih soft shades of lemon, green and coral. Miss D. Bainbridge. off-white satin the bodice finished with frilled effect. Miss J. Gunn, midnight blue cloque, white flowers trimming the corsage. Miss M. Burge, maize georgette, parma vjoiets trimming the neckline ahd a parma violet sash. Miss D. GrifBths, rich ied satin frock, the bodice inset with red and gold lace. Miss N. Guinbley, bright rose satin,

Miss Sliaw, floral lame basqued blouse worn with a black skirt. Mrs Spotswood, Coronation red cotelle. Miss Kirkwood, black taffeta, the bodice aud waistline trimmed with plaited taffeta. Miss Harper, violet chiffon inset with silver lame? the cowi sleeves beiug reversed with siiver lanie. Miss IStewart, frock of black grano crepe. Miss A. Griffiths, wine cheniile velvet trimmed with gold lame. Miss Wiig, red Iigured marocain, worn with a red sash. Miss E. {Struthers, cerulean blue cotelle, worn with a rose pink sash and spray. Miss Shapleski pink georgette^ figured in green and worn .with a wide green belt. Miss Flemming, white siiver thread cotelle having an azure blue sash. Miss Wiggins, blue spottcd taffeta. Miss D. McAnulty, floral silk crepe in lemon shades. Miss N. Attwood, pastel shaded floral taffeta, having cowl'ed sleeves. Miss M. Matthews black ring velvet finished with diamante clasp and buckle. Miss Lorrigan, floral taffeta in shades of beige pink and lilac, with lilac flowers and velvet sash.
