NAPIER BAPTIST CHURCH
Jubilce Celebratiohs This ye'ar marks'the 50th annivorsary of tho establishment of the Baptist Church in Napier, and the golden jubilee is being celebrated by a series of meetings and service3 which began on Sunday and which will extend over the whole of this wreek, an.d will conclude on Sunday next. Leading ministers of the church from various part of New Zealand are present, including the Rev. J. J. North, principal of tho Baptist College, Auckland, the Rev. M. W. P. Lascelles, secretary and treasurer to tho New Zealand Baptist Union, the Rev. J. K. Archcr^ of Christchurch, and others. Messrs* Archer aud Lascelles are both forincr ministors of the Napier Baptist Church, which was established iu Napier 50 years ago by the Itev. P, H. Cornford. The services at the Napier Baptist Chqrch on Sunday attracted very large attcndanccs. The morning eorvice was taken by tho Itev. J. J. North, D.D., and special hymns wero eung by the girls of the Itandall House Choir. A special afternoon service was held at which the Itev. J. K. Archer gave a very stirling address, speaking espeeially to men. A solo was s'ung by Mr. Lennox, The Itev. J. J. North, D.D., again oecupied tho pulpit at the evening service. At this service a quartetto was sung by Mra. Athcrfold, Miss N. Morland, and Messrs. Lennox and Barker, and a solo was sung by Miss D; Buekinghaiji, L.R.S.M. . The milestones of the years as they ref er to the progress of this • church will be dealt with in the celebrations , which will taka jilaca during tho woek.
