Seaman Fined For Not Paying Admission

WELLINGTON, ( This Day. James Duqgmuir, a seaman, was charged before Mr. W. E. Stilwell, S.M., with obtaining admission to Athletic Park on Saturday without paying 2/6 admission fee and obstructing a policeman. The constable saw him rush through the gate and get about ten yards into the enclosure. He asked Dunsmuir for his ticket, knowing that he did not have one as he had seen him refused admission. Accused made a rush into the crowd and the constable caught him, whereupon accused started to punch and kick. . At the police station Dunsmuir said he had no money but wanted to see the game. He admitted climbing a fence in the first place. On the first charge he was iined 15/-, in default three days' imprisonment, and on the socond charge £2, in default seven days'.
