BIG BID FOR BOXER
Tommy Farr Impresses Americans p (Received 16, 2.0 p.m.) LONG BRANCH (N.J.), Aug. 15. Mr A1 Weill, manager of the boxer Lou Ambers, after watching Tommy Farr, the British heavyweight, spar fiverounds, dramatically offered Farr's manager, Mr Broadribb, 35,000 dollars for his manager 's contract plus 25 per' eent. of Farr's championship purse, representing at least 16,500 dollars. Mr Broadribb rcplied tliat ho would not consider it unless this was agreeable to Farr who exclaimed, "I do not want another manager." This appears to disposo of rumours that Farr and Mr Broadribb are quarrelling and also indicates how American experts regard Farr's chances, despite the fact that betting odds favour Joe Louis substantially.
