(By '

Both tho racing and the jumping contests at tlio point-to-point mocting of tho Hawke's Bay Hunt at Tikokino on Saturday were very interesting, and the large attcndance of patrons en* joycd a capital afteriioon's sport. Tho propcrty, kiildly lcnt by Mr Gordon Limbrick, was in splendid order. Tho following were tho donors of Ihe trophios: Messrs P. F. Wall, D. Hol* dei), E. Todd, J. Goring Johnston, W. Henderson, T. Butler, E. C. Nation, John Ormond, Jnr., E. O. Bouselield, Hawkcs Bay Farmers', N.Z. Loan and ■ Mereantile Agcncy Co. Ltd., Williatns and Ifettle.; Mesdames D. Butler and Muncaster. Two otlier trophies were donated anonymously and another by the residents of Tikokino and the surrounding districts. The various honorary officers carried out their duties in a capable manner. They were: Messrs H. M, Bishop (clcrk of the scales), Wallace A. Todd (starter), Gordon Limbrick (judge of racing evcnts), Eoy Gallien (judge of the liunters' trials), J. Hindrup (clerk of thc course) ; and the judicial com-1 mittee, Messrs H. Ivathboncj lp. ,B. Donnclly, W. A. Tod, W. J. Wood and the Hon. H. A. Russell- The secretary, Mr A. E. Wishart, played Uo small part iu the success of the gatheriug. At the conclusion of the entertaiuing afternoon, thc Hon. H. A. Russell, in a brief speech, thanked all for their patronage, the donors of the prizes, and Mr G. Limbrick, for loaning the grounds free of charge. Mr Eussdll then called upon Mrs Thornley Sherratt, wife of the Master, to present the prizes. Results: — L1GHTWEIGHT STEEPLECHASE Three trOphies; 2 J miles. MASTER TURBINE — Mr Eoy Eood's br. g. by King Soult — Captaiu mare (fioy Rood) .... 1 Martini — Mr O. Nelson 's b. g. (E. N clson) 2 j Phrenologj'-— Mrs D. Holden's br. g. (Duncan Holden) 3 Also ran: Mistletoe (A. Bibby), Blazeaway (G. Pettit), Timipouri (Hector McNenzie). From an excellent start the dimiuutive Mastcr Turbine was iirst awa v, with the rest of tho field bunched. Over the brush double the first time Master Turbine was joined by Master Heetor, but the latter fell at the secona of this double, as also did Timipouri. This pair of fallen horses interfered with Martini, who was unable to take the f ence, so had to T/e urougbt .baek again, and .by the time he got going he was well behind a strung-out field. Master j Turbine carried on with the good work ] for the rest of the way to cross the f winning line with a four-lengths-advan- j tage from the unlucky Martini, with a I six lengths back to Phrenology. The i winner was ridden a well-judged Tace, and both ridcr and horse came in for a well-deserved reeeption on returning to HUNTERS' TRIAL Three Hrophies. For Men and.Ladies, MARCO— Mr B. D. Bousfield's br. g. (Miss M. White) I Stella — Mr H. Hassall's b. m. (Mrs Pafc White) 2 Trooper- — Mr D. Holden ;s br. g. (Mrs D. Holden) 3 Twenty-three competed, This event was held in heavy rain, and with visibility poor and the take-offi side of the wire double soft, the cbnditions were bad for this event. There were a few apills, Miss M. White getting a severe shaking when Snowball tossed out at the first of the wire double, but' she pluckily fulfilled further engagements and richly deserved the winning success on Marcus. HEAVY WEIGHT STEEPLECHASE Three Trophies; 2J miles. PAE TUTU— -Mr H. B. Peacock's " br. g. by Our King— Elevation mare (R. Hewitt) 1 Offa — Mr W. S. F. Johnston 's b. g. (W. Johnston) 2 Trooper — Mr D. Holden 's br. g. (Duncan Holden) • 3 Also started: Brightlieht (J. J. Gatenby), Jack (N. McGregor), King • Kong (F. Bruce), Bowyang (H. Maiquant). The early leaders were Bright Light and King Kong, but at the fourth ienee, tlio brush double King Kong rau oR and by the time he was brought baek to jump again was too f ar out of the contest to be daugerous. Six furlongs from home Bright Light began to tire, and Pae Tutu took ovor to. lead Ofi'a by a few lengths, with Bowyang and Trooper fighting for thir^ pla-ce further back. Pae Tutu stayed on .best to win by three lengths, with Bowyang twenty yards back third, but ii$ he failed to weigh-in correctly, being 7 Ibs light, he was disqualifiedi and Trooper was awarded that prize. UPEN POINT-TO-POINT STEEPLECHASE Three trophies; •• 21 ihiles. ACEON— Mr E. Todd's b. g. by Eangitjra-Altitude (Ian Bradbury) I Sabatini — Mr L. N. White 'a br. g. (L. N. White) 2 TimipourW-Miss M. Wall's and H. iv. McKcnzie's br. g. (H. McKenzie) 1 Also ran: Tommy Atkins (H. Marquant). Tommy Atkins rushed to the lead, but his rider was soon reefing at him, and over the second fence Timipouri had joined him. The first of the brush double spelt disaster for "Tommy," who fell. He was caught and remounled, but way hopelessiy out of the conlost. This left the three in close formation, and so they continued until half a niile froui home, when

Timipouri cried enough. Sabatini and Aeron from here on had a battle royal, and amidst great enthuslasm Acron hung on long enough to gaih a narrow vexfdict, while .Timipouri must have been the ' best part of a furlong away third, HUNTEES > TRIAL For Men; Three Trophies. KALLU — Miss J. Pattison's gr. g, 1 Star X — ^Mrs J. N. Lowry 's eh. m. 2 Matai— Mr T. Moorhead's b. g 3 Twenty-eiglit competed, and as in the Ladies' Trial the poor light and the cut-up ground at the wire caused more than one error, so that again many of the contestants were forced into error. LADIES ; BRACELET Two. trophies; about 5J furlongs. SHIRLEY TEMPLE— : Eric To'dd's ch. ra. by Danilolf (Mrs E. Todd/ 1 Columbus — Miss P. S. Hardiiig's b. g. (Miss V.
