PRODUCE REPORT

Rise in Potato Prices CHRISTCHURCH, Last Nign't. Apart from a'sudden firming in jjotatoes, the grain and produce markets in Christchurch have been extremely quiet this week. Potato'es have risen about 30s a, ton since.the end of last week. The North Island enquiry was fairly strong early in the week and prices here immediately responded, but they rose to a figure that has to some extent discouraged the -North Island trade. A sKipment of about 6000 sacks is due to leave at the wpek-end, and in the meantime no groat amount of business is passing, though there is still some enquiry. Dakotas are worth at presfint about £8 10s on trucks and whites about £8. Chaff is quiet and , there is no greatdemand for. oats. The seed trade shows little life, but the spring demand should make itself f elt within a week or two.
