Africa, and which will appear at Hastings on Friday, August 27, The visit to New Zealand of the Don Cossack Choir;is in furtherance of a world tour begun in 1933. There are over thirty choristers whose production and technique are"qualities unequalled by any other organsation of singers. Their work. has been a revelati.on in all countries which have b e eif^p rlvi'l ege d to hear this fattious organisation. The programmes inelude such rare and beautiful numbers ae "Saria Marais," a glorified version, Bortnianski's "Te Deum," Arhaugelsky 's ' ' Hear My Prayer, Oh God," Charkovsky'a "Blessed Art Thou, Oh Lord," Donizetti 's t setting of the ' 1 Ave Maria, *' ' Kolotine's "Slgnals," Arhaugelsky 'a "Volga Boatman," a Costeaek number, Platoff Song, the singing dance of the Caucasians, "Lesguika," the popular Russian song, "Stenka Rasin," the lovely "Evening Bells," a comic song "Melania," and the singing dance ottHe Don Cossacks, "Kosatschek. " Ui)fortunately, owing to the enforced brevlty of the New Zealand tour, only one night can be allocated to Hastings, ■as after a hurried tour the Don Cossacks Choir will proeeed to Australia, where a compreheneive tour has been arranged.
