Thousands Pouring Into Shanghai CHINESE BANKS CLOSE

Tho Chiuese Ministry of Finance has ordcrcd nll Chinese baaks, ineluding the Bank of China, to close within two days, wliich adds to thc fear and confusion reigning in Shanghai, into which city thousands are pouTing, eucumbered by tb.eir possessions. The British TJnited Press correspondent at Shanghai says that foreign banliers are carrying on business as usual. A suppiementary British Official Wireless message states that a serious situation continues at Shanghai. In the International Settlement preeautionary defensive measures have been taken, and British, French and American troops are standing by, while Shanghai volunteers have been mobilised for the protection of life and propcrty. A battalion of Boyal Welsh Fusiliers is being sent from Hong Kong to Shanghai to assist in these preeautionary steps.
