Australian Fruit Wins Place on Canadian Menu

BEISBANE, Queenslaud— The marketing of Australian goods in Ganada was explained to the Brisbane Chamber of Commerce here r.ecently by the Australian Trade Commissioxxey to Canada, L. E. McGregor, who is on a visit to Queenslaud. Mr McGregor said that Australia had sold in Ganada this year more .. dried fruit than was consumed on the Australian home market.. This success he attributed to the high quality of the fruit produced and to the sound and progressive policy of the Gommpnwealth Dried Fruits .Board and its practice of meeting the, exigencies of the. Canadian market as distinct from those of other markets where different conditions .prevailcdt , . , , The Trade Gommissioner made special reference to a.trial shipment of Murray Eiver oranges from South Australia to Montreal. These oranges, he said, turned out in cxcelleiit order and uroused t'avourablc comment with respect to quality and appearance. The price x*ealized was 2s a case above the current values of Galifornian oranges. .He believed that there was scope for a greater market for Australian oranges •in Canada.
