DRAMA FESTIVAL AT TARADALE CONCLUDES WITH FOUR PLAYS
Last evening tke Drama Eestival of the Nortkern Hawke's Bay Pederation of Women 's Institutes concluded, . wken four plays were presented at tke Taradale Town Hall. Tke adjudlcator, Miss Hazell, of Havelock Nortk/ announced tke winner of tke best individual performance of tke evening to be Mrs C. Finck, ais "Amelia" in tke play "Amelia ObKges," and tke runner-up Mrs L. Scott as "Sam" in "Men for Pieees." Mrs Einck was presented witk a lovely bouq.uet of violets by tke adjudlcator. Mrs D. J. Biggir, president of tke federation, tkanked Miss Hazell for acting as adjudicator for tke festival, and as a token of tke institute's appreciation presented ker witk a lovely bouquet. Tke plays given were as follow: — Bay View Women 's Institute. — "Bobbie Settles vDown," by G. Jennings; produced by Mrs A. MeHardy. Players: Mrs Stafford., Mrs A. MeHardy, Miss B. Blair, Mrs Olsen, "A very good little comedy," stated tfie adjudicator. "Most amusing in pai'ts, and quite a good attempt." Fernhill Women 's Institute. — "Amelia Obliges," by1 Betty Byard; producer, Mrs' Fincfi. Players: Mrs L. Lord, Mrs J. Campbell, Miss Joan Taylor, Mrs Taylor, Miga Mona Brandon, Mrs C. •Fincfi. Commenting on tfiis play the adjudicator said that the stage setting was good and sfiowed originality, but tfie wfiole play suffered tfirougfi inaudibility. Amelia earrie.d tfie play tfirougfi, giving an. excellent performance. Greenmeadows' Women 's Institute. — "Men for Pieces," by Mrs Targuse; produeer, Mrs Scott. Players: Mrs E. Goodall, Mrs E. Wright, Mrs W* B. Martin, Mrs L. H. Scott. "A very pleasing performance," stated Miss Hazell, "tfie voices being very cTear and tfiere was a good opportunity for drama wfiicfi was quite a cfiange from comedy. Tfie wfiole play went over very well." Bay View Women 's Institute. — "Antiques," by Emeraon Bussell; pro- ' ducer, Mrs* A. MeHardy. Players: Mrs Petersen, Mrs A. Duncan, Mrs Mitcfiell. "This play fiad very good atmospfiere," said tke adjudicator, "and went over very well indeed." At tke conclusion of tke plays tke Greenmeadows Women 's Institute entertaineH with two sketch.es, whick were muck enjoyed by tke audience.
