OBITUARY

Mr reginald h. edridge The_ death occurred at a private hospital in Hastings last evening, followmg a brief illness, of Mr. Reginald Henry Edridge, of Beresford street, Hastings, and in his. passing the dlstrict loses a highly-respected and most promising citizen. The late Mr. Edridge, who was only oo years of age, was the son of the ?ey- J3, Ed«dge and .Mrs. Edridge, how of Brooklyn, but for seven vears resident in Hastings, . where the "Rev. Mr. Edridge was pastor of the Baptist Ohurch. Born at Wanganui in 1902 the late Mr. Edridge came to Hastings as a lad and was educated at the Hasl,mgs^ High fechool. Later he entered service in the lirm of McCulJoch, Butler and Spence, specialising in the aifaira of Mr. William Richmond.- EventualJy he became secretary, when the firm of W. Richmond, Ltd., meat-exporters, was formed in 1929. The late _ Mr. Edridge was brought into extensive and close contact wilh the farming commumty over a very wide area, and he was a man who earned the higiiest regard and rcspect of all those with wlioui he associated. He i was also a keen and active supporter of tho aftuirs of tiie Hastings Baptist Ohurch, and for a period of neary 13 years was treasurer. He was a mcmu'e r of tlie liechabite Order and for many years a member of the Hastings Uolf Olub. There are left the widow and two young daughters of school age, anj in addition to his father and mother there are two brothers, Messrs. 'ii. M. and A. E. Edridge, botli of Wellington, and two sisters, Mrs. W. E. Teeboon, of Masterton, and Miss J. Edridge, or wellington. Widespread sympathy will be extended to all of them in the loss of so young a member of the family. The funeral will leave the Hastings Baptist Church to-morrow znorning for the Hastings Cemetcry.
